Cynthia Sally Haggard - Thwarted Queen
Diana is brilliant at accents, she can literally do any accent you throw her way. This is why I hired her to do my first audiobook (Thwarted Queen) and then we won an IPPY Gold Medal for Audiobook!! - Cynthia Sally Haggard
Carol Wyer - Bestselling Author
"What a talent Di Croft is! She gives every project her all and brought life to everyone of my characters (including those with unusual accents) in the DI Natalie Ward series. She is brilliant to work with - dynamic and extremely dilligent. I highly recommend Di to narrate your books. You will be delighted with the result." -- Carol Wyer #1 Bestselling Author
TJ Green - The White Haven Witches
I absolutely love working with Diana Croft. She is highly professional, wonderfully reliable, and an excellent communicator, always keeping me informed about timescales and deadlines. Diana is also warm, funny, and an absolute pleasure to collaborate with. Her range of accents and character voices bring my books vividly to life, and my readers consistently tell me how much they love her engaging, versatile narration. I feel incredibly lucky to work with her and would wholeheartedly recommend her for any audiobook project.
Listener reviews
This book is masterfully written! And the narration is incredible..... The combination of this
brilliant story with truly expert narration, takes you into another time and place, and vividly brings
to life the interplay of the natural world and the spiritual realm, as experienced by the ancient
Pictish people of Scotland!
Daughter of the Gods
Thwarted Queen is an epic saga of love, hate, death and betrayal set in the turbulent years of
the Wars of the Roses and told, almost exclusively, from the perspective of Lady Cecylee
Neville, whose star rose and fell according to the strengths and weaknesses of the family to
whom she was allied. The entire book is narrated by Diana Croft and in it she has to age Lady
Cecylee from a small child to an old lady of 80, and also take on the parts of all the other
protagonists, both male and female. Her voice has an incredible range, giving life and
substance to all the characters, be they the bell-like notes of a small, female child, an imperious
male with a speech impediment, a haughty lady of the Court or the weakening croak of an
ageing matriarch. Although the story is complicated and convoluted, I was never in any doubt as
to which character was speaking, and it brought alive for me a period of history of which I am
almost completely ignorant. An absolute triumph of narration!
I’ve listened to most of Diana Croft’s audiobooks at this point because it’s a pretty safe bet I’ll enjoy the book, but I would venture that this is the best book she’s ever done. She brings the fantastic characters to life, each one with their own distinctive personality and voice, especially Jizzimus the imp.
I rarely relisten to audiobooks but I can happily play this one on repeat! - A Spell in the Country
